1. Monte Cristo Homestead – New South Wales, Australia

The Monte Cristo Homestead is considered to be the most haunted place in Australia. It got its reputation because of the tragic events that have happened since the site was erected in 1885. The Crawley family lived there from 1885 to 1948, wherein the family had a string of deaths that happened, which includes the death of a child who fell down the stairs, a maid who fell down the balcony, and a stable boy who burned to death. The caretaker’s cottage also served as “home” to a mentally ill man named Harold who was chained for 40 years. After the Crawleys left the premises, a group of caretakers took over the property and one of them was murdered inside the cottage where Harold was discovered.
